Final Entry: Advice

First, advice for someone writing any kind of paper- Pace yourself. Allow yourself to take it step by step, but keep up with the work. Don't let yourself fall behind. I would ask for help EVERY time you need it. It can't hurt. When doing research, make sure your sources are reliable and you have enough information to begin writing. Always try to stay positive. If you start feeling like you will fail, then you probably will. For a scientific paper, do your research on your topic thoroughly. Make sure you gather enough information to back up your side. And if you attend Kaplan, USE the writing center. They offer great advice and can really help. This class has been a little stressful with the whole paper writing process, but I did learn a lot of information that I will take with me. Good luck to everyone and maybe I will see some of you in a future class. Everyone have a great break!

Unit 9 Entry

Yes!!! I am so glad this unit is over and my paper is done. This was not my first paper, but it was definitely the hardest. I had to put more into it and I am so glad that the entire process is over. I am not 100% happy with it, but it's alright. I do not like to write so I had to really push myself to get it done. I did learn about a lot of new information regarding my topic and learning about new things is always good. Thanks to everyone for all of the feedback I received and good luck to everyone in their future classes. See you back here next week for my final blog post.

Unit 8: Will I Continue My Blog?

I have enjoyed this experience and reading other's thoughts and feelings about different topics, but I do not think that I am going to continue my blog after this course is over, unless it is for a grade. I just do not write that often and I really don't have the time to keep it up. So I will continue to blog for the next two units, then I will say goodbye. So until next week.....

Peer Reviews

I like peer reviews. I think it is a good idea to have your peers look over your work, for one, they are working on the same thing and know the process and the amount of work that goes into the assignment. And other's opinions might help me see something that I missed. At the same time, I do not want someone giving too many suggestions because I am very sensitive and try really hard and those comments could easily hurt my feelings. I just tell myself to be open minded and that this will open my mind to new ideas.

The past 6 weeks...

The past 6 weeks have really flown by. Thanksgiving was an extremely busy holiday because my family and I had to visit a few places and I also helped my mom move into her new house. With all of the holidays and running around so much trying to get things done, these past weeks have flown by. I have had a difficult time with my final paper. I kept trying to change things around because I was unsure of the order and then I realized that I had not even started on my the draft for the unit 6 project. I have been rushing to get it done this week, on top of my other project that was also due today. I am going to enjoy this much needed Christmas break and when it is over, I am going to better manage my time and school work so that I can relax a little more and not stay stressed. I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Unit 5: My life and school

Hi everyone. School is a huge part of my life and to be honest, is one of the most stressful things that I am dealing with now. That is saying something when you have two little ones running around like I do! I know it will be worth it in the end, but in the meantime, it is causing stress in my life. I stay home with my kids, so I am always spending time with them, but all of my free time (time away from kids) goes to house and schoolwork. This of course cuts into the time I spend with my fiancé and it is putting a big strain on our relationship. We both knew that school would demand more time from me, but I guess he never thought it would be this much and I thought the time spent would be easier to manage. Sometimes I get a little overwhelmed with all that is going on that I just want to stop everything and walk away, but then I snap back and remind myself that all of this hard work will give my family and me a better life when it is all said and done.

Unit 4: Plagiarism

Anyone who uses information that is not his or her own needs to cite the source. If not, then it is plagiarism. We need to cite the sources because it gives the persons credit for the work they did. That is really the professional and respectful thing to do. It also shows that you can back up information with the facts you provided, courtesy of others. And if anyone wanted to look at the original source for more information, you have already provided it for them so they don't have to go searching for it.
Plus, would you want someone taking credit for the work you did? I know I wouldn’t!
